  Legislative updates for Spring 2007 sessions

Oregon State Senate Bill 423 Oregon State > Senate Bill 423 > Relating to discrimination because of medical use of marijuana and Medical Marijuana Patients' Right to Work.   SB 423 Prohibits Employer from discriminating against individual with respect to hire or tenure or any term or condition of employment because individual engages in medical use of marijuana outside of workplace.  Status: There was a Hearing on this bill on Monday, Feb. 26, at 3PM in Salem, currently Referred to Commerce Committee .  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 465 Oregon State > Senate Bill 465 > Also Relating to Employer Discrimination Against Patients.   SB 465 Expands ability of employer to prohibit use of medical marijuana in workplace.  Status: Presented to Full Senate for vote on Feb 28, 11am.  Click here for more.

Oregon State House Bill 2306 Oregon State > House Bill 2306 > Relating to Drug Testing for Elected State Officials   HB 2306 would effectively mean no medical marijuana patient could serve in public office.  Status: Referred to Judiciary Committee.  Click here for more.

Oregon State House Bill 2429 Oregon State > House Bill 2429 > Relating to Employees Paying for Drug Tests.   HB 2429 would allow employers to dock your paycheck for the cost of a failed drug test.  Status: Referred to Business & Labor Committee  Click here for more.

Oregon State House Bill 2441 Oregon State > House Bill 2441 > Relating to Drug Testing for Unemployment Benefits.   HB 2441 would subject applicants for unemployment recipients to an initial drug test to qualify and periodic random drug testing if the applicant tests positive.  Status: Referred without recommendation for passage to Workforce and Economic Development by order of Speaker)  Click here for more.

Oregon State House Bill 2808 Oregon State > House Bill 2808 > Relating to Expanding ability of employer to prohibit use of medical marijuana in the workplace.   HB 2808 is designed to allow employers to fire any medical marijuana patient without cause.  Status: Sponsored by Representative OLSON; Representatives BARKER, BERGER, BOONE, BRUUN, BUTLER, CAMERON, CLEM, C EDWARDS, D EDWARDS, GIROD, HANNA, KOMP, KRIEGER, MORGAN, RICHARDSON, ROBLAN, SCHAUFLER, SCOTT, THATCHER, WHISNANT.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 161 Oregon State > Senate Bill 161 > Relating to Limit Caregivers to Four Patients.   SB 161 Prohibits This bill makes changes to the PRMGS definition so no caregiver could care for more than four patients.  Status: Referred to Health & Human Services Committee.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 294 Oregon State > Senate Bill 294 > Relating to Employer Discrimination Against Patients.   SB 294 would add language to help employers fire medical marijuana patients.  Status: Referred to Business, Transportation and Workplace Development Committee.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 327 Oregon State > Senate Bill 327 > Relating to Growing Marijuana as a Misdemeanor.   SB 327 would allow prosecutors to only charge growers of a small amount of marijuana with a misdemeanor instead of a felony.  Status: Hearing Scheduled with Judiciary Committee.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 348 Oregon State > Senate Bill 348 > Relating to Allowing Industrial Hemp.   SB 348 would allow Oregon State farmers to grow industrial hemp (<1% THC) for food, fuel, and fiber.  Status: Referred to Environment and Natural Resources, then Ways and Means.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 349 Oregon State > Senate Bill 349 > Relating to Expunction of Certain Convictions.   SB 349 would allow someone with a marijuana possession felony conviction to have their conviction expunged (thrown out) after three years of completing one's sentence.  Status: Referred to Judiciary Committee.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 393 Oregon State > Senate Bill 393 > Relating to Drug Testing for Public Benefits.   SB 393 would subject applicants for public assistance to a drug test and continued drug tests every six months.  Status: Referred to Health & Human Services.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 394 Oregon State > Senate Bill 394 > Relating to Drug Testing for State Employees.   SB 394 would require pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug tests of all state employees.  Status: Referred to Education and General Government.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 396 Oregon State > Senate Bill 396 > Relating to Drug Testing for Public School Teachers.   SB 396 would require pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug tests of all public school employees.  Status: Referred to Education and General Government.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 606 Oregon State > Senate Bill 606 > Relating to Drug Testing for Public Benefits.   SB 606 would subject anyone receiving any form of public assistance to random drug testing.  Status: Referred to Health & Human Services.  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 690 Oregon State > Senate Bill 690 > Relating to The Omnibus Drug Testing Act of 2007.   SB 690 Creates provisions to compel medical marijuana patients to self-identify to an employer, allows employer to fire medical marijuana patients for no cause, protects employers from lawsuits regarding drug tests (even false positives).  Status: Submitted by COMMITTEE ON JUDICIARY (at the request of Drug Free Workplace Legislative Work Group).  Click here for more.

Oregon State Senate Bill 767 Oregon State > Senate Bill 767 > Relating to State Medical Marijuana Dispensary Pilot Project.   SB 767 Authorizes Department of Human Services to establish medical marijuana dispensary program pilot project. Creates oversight committee. Authorizes department to adopt rules to implement and operate pilot project. Sunsets project December 31, 2016.  Status: Submitted to the Senate by Sen. Oregon State Senate Joint Resolution 17 Oregon State > Senate Joint Resolution 17 > Relating to Voluntary Drug Testing for Oregon Legislature.   SJR 17 Requires Legislative Administration Committee to establish and administer voluntary drug testing program for members of Legislative Assembly. Provides that participation in drug testing rogram is at discretion of member and is not requirement for service.  Status: Submitted.  Click here for more.

United States House Resolution 2087 United States > House Resolution 2087 > the State's Rights to Medical Marijuana Act.   HR 2087 Reschedules marijuana to Schedule 2.  Click here for more.
